Andi Oliver’s call for urgent winter funds for Refugee Community Kitchen

Last month we had the pleasure of welcoming Andi Oliver: chef, TV presenter; and author of The Pepperpot Diaries, to our kitchen in Gospel Oak, London. Andi is a long lasting, dedicated supporter and good friend of RCK.

Andi Oliver spent time with us in Calais during the winter months in 2016 and has since been advocating for people less fortunate than ourselves and has recently joined as one of our trustees!

Andi spent the day with us in the Gospel Oak London Kitchen cooking an exquisite menu of coconut curry chicken, with sticky orange & ginger aubergine and cashew nut rice and made lore than enough to feed over 150 people!

Celebrating Alyx and Shona: A Feast for the Heart and Soul!

For the past four years, the incredible Alyx has poured her heart and creativity into designing RCK's calendars. Her tireless efforts have turned our calendars into not just a tool for tracking dates, but into vibrant canvases that tell stories, inspire hope, and connect us all.

But that's not all! We also want to give a shout-out to the amazing Shona, whose delicious carrot cake recipe features in this year's calendar.

As a token of our appreciation, we're sharing Shona's mouthwatering carrot cake recipe below as a treat for our wonderful followers.

Let's take a moment to celebrate the talent, dedication, and generosity of Alyx, Shona and every volunteer that passes through our kitchen. Your contributions make our mission sweeter and more beautiful every day.

Vegetables, vegetables glorious vegetables

At RCK we truly love vegetables!

Whenever possible we try to use as many fresh vegetables, raw and cooked in our daily menus. In Calais they are mostly sourced from a nearby wholesale market in Lille, where as well as buying regularly we are also given short dated and free vegetables. With the kind support from Lomme Primeurs.

Even with the help of the free donations of vegetables our monthly costs for buying fresh goods add up, if you would consider making a small regular donation of just £5, £10 or more this would make a huge impact to helping us to sustain the delicious and nutritious output.

With just the cost of a few cups of coffee a month it can really help us deliver these vital nutrients and joy to people in need.

Sending Love and thanks to you from all from the RCK family

Water for All

Join Us in signing the petition helping to bring clean water to displaced people in Northern France

Access to clean and safe water is a fundamental human right, yet many communities around the world still struggle to fulfil this basic need.

We are thrilled to announce that "Water for All", a campaign comprised of half a dozen NGOs who work in Northern France, have come together on behalf of refugees to push for change on the issue of water access.
